General Information

Dermatophagoides Farinae It is a specific dust mite that is often found in household dust. They are microscopic arthropods that feed on the dead skin cells of humans and animals. They live in beds, carpets and soft furniture - places where dust easily collects. This mite reproduces especially well in warm and moist environments.

Fecal masses or parts of the exoskeleton of the dust mite, when in contact with the human skin, cause strong reactions, such as: skin itching, rash, sneezing, nasal discharge, irritation of the eye mucosa.

Genetic predisposition plays an important role in the development of allergic reactions, including dermatophagoides.

Environmental factors such as air pollution, tobacco smoke, exhaust gases and others weaken the activity of the immune system and contribute to or cause the development of an allergic reaction.

Other factors – young age, male gender, concomitant respiratory and/or autoimmune diseases – also contribute to the development of an allergic reaction.
