General Information

It is recommended to avoid sexual intercourse, vaginal douching, use of intravaginal medications (creams, contraceptives, disinfectants, lubricants) or other intravaginal interventions (intravaginal tampons, vaginal examination) 24-48 hours before taking the smear.
Vaginal swabs are not taken during menstrual bleeding. It is recommended to take a swab in the middle of the menstrual cycle, as well as after treatment for genital infections.
