Gliadin antibodies IgG

Determination of gliadin antibodies is used to diagnose celiac disease. Celiac disease is a chronic, inflammatory, autoimmune disease that develops after eating gluten-containing foods. Gliadin is a protein contained in gluten.

Anti-gliadin antibodies: IgA and IgG develop in response to taking products containing gliadin

IgA detection is very informative in the diagnostics of celiac disease, because it is produced in the small intestine, where there is an inflammatory focus. The concentration of IgG is less specific for celiac disease, although it is still important to detect the inflammatory process.

Detection of both types of antibodies allows the doctor to evaluate the body's immune response to gluten and its components.

Detection of gliadin antibodies is an additional investigation of celiac disease. It also provides an opportunity to monitor treatment.

For the reliability of the results, the patient should eat gluten-containing products (oats, rye, wheat) for several weeks before conducting the research.
