Home call service: YesTestosterone Is an androgen that is synthesized in testicular Leydig cells in men under the influence of LH (melatoninizing hormone), and a small amount is produced by the peripheral conversion of androstenedione. In women, more than 50% of serum testosterone is produced by peripheral conversion of androstenedione, which is synthesized in the adrenal cortex and ovaries, while the rest is secreted in the same organs. Typically, about 60% of circulating testosterone is bound to sex hormone-binding globulin, which is biologically inactive, while the remainder is bound to albumin (testosterone in tissues excretes albumin and spreads rapidly in tissues), and 1-2% circulates as a free fraction.
