General Information

Liver Fluke (Fasciola hepatica) is a parasitic worm that infects the liver, gallbladder, and bile ducts. Once inside the host, the parasite feeds and depletes the host's nutrients. Infection can occur:

Raw and incompletely cooked fish Upon receipt
When consuming algae as food
contaminated While drinking

The infection can spread to sheep, cows, and also to domestic animals (cats, dogs).

Liver Bilateral Antibody Test

Liver Fluke (Fasciola hepatica) antibody testing is used to diagnose fascioliasis (infection caused by the liver fluke), especially when eggs are not yet visible in stool analysis. The ELISA test is the most commonly used and detects IgG antibodies at an early stage with high sensitivity (90%+).
