General Information

Ebiom+ / Endometrial Microbiome and Chronic Endometritis Comprehensive Study is a single test that simultaneously assesses the balance of the microbiome and the pathogens that cause chronic endometritis, allowing for more accurate diagnostics and individualized treatment planning.

Technology: Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).

SamplingInstruction

Endometrial swabs should be collected without contamination with vaginal flora:

  1. Before sampling, the external surface of the cervix should be treated with a disinfectant and then cleaned with sterile saline. Specimens should not be taken from this area. Disinfection
  2. It is necessary to prevent the accidental entry of microbes into the cervix or the uterus itself.
  3. Discard the disposable pipette; it is not needed for taking an endometrial smear.
  4. Carefully remove the sterile swab from the protective foil. Do not touch the tip of the swab or place it on a surface.
  5. Warning: The swab should not come into contact with the transport fluid before sampling.
  6. Insert the white tip of the tampon through the endocervical canal to the base of the uterus. The endometrium
  7. To get the most accurate picture of your microbiome, make sure you insert a swab into your vaginal flora.
  8. No contact and as little contact as possible with the cervical flora.
  9. To collect the sample, gently swirl the swab for 15-30 seconds.
  10. Carefully, without touching, remove the tampon (see above).
  11. To avoid contamination, handle the transport tube cap and the tube itself with care.
  12. Open the cap of the tube and insert the tampon into the tube with the white tip facing down.
  13. Carefully break the end of the tampon at the point on the handle. Be careful to avoid splashing.
  14. Attach the sample identification label to the transport tube.
  15. Fill out the sample collection form completely and secure the patient's signature.
  16. The swab collection process for ebiom and ebiomCE testing is identical. However, when performing ebiom+, two swabs are required to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the test.

The test examines how:

Bacteria of the uterine microbiome:

Atopobium

Bifidobacterium

Chlamydia

Chryseobacterium

gardnerella

haemophilus

Klebsiella

neisseria

Staphylococcus

Streptococcus

Also, pathogenic bacteria associated with chronic endometritis:

Chlamydiatrachomatis

Mycoplasma genitalia

Mycoplasmahominis

neisseria gonorrhoeae

Ureaplasma parvum

Ureaplasma urealyticum

When should we take the test?

  • ReproductiveProblemsAt the time:

    • Repeated failed in vitro fertilization (IVF)
    • Unexplained infertility
    • Recurrent miscarriages
  • SymptomsIn the presence of:
    •  Chronic lower abdominal pain
    • Dyspareunia (pain during sexual intercourse)
    • Atypical vaginal bleeding or discharge
  • FertilityTreatmentBefore starting– To optimize the chances of pregnancy

Possible interpretation of the results

The bacteria present in the endometrial flora are evaluated to identify possible imbalances.

Reference values

  • The test sample should be collected in the second half of the menstrual cycle.
  • After disinfection, the cervix should be cleaned with a second sterile swab soaked in saline (not included in the sample collection kit) to avoid contamination of the swab with the disinfectant during sample collection. Sample collection can be performed in conjunction with hysteroscopy, although it is important to perform the sample collection first and then perform the hysteroscopy, as the fluid or carbon dioxide used during hysteroscopy may affect the results of the study.
  • Warning: Taking a sample solely for endometrial microbiome analysis is not an indication for hysteroscopy in itself. The sample can be taken as part of any gynecological examination, in accordance with the instructions provided.

! The procedure (taking a test sample) should only be performed by a reproductive specialist or gynecologist in a specialized clinic!
