General Information

Influenza A/B rapid test allows simultaneous detection and differentiation of viruses that cause the most common respiratory tract infections of the cold season: influenza A and B types.

Influenza (Influenza) A/B rapid test qualitatively detects influenza A and B viral antigens in a nasopharyngeal or nasal swab specimen by lateral immunoassay.

When should we take the test?

Respiratory viruses cause acute, local and/or systemic pathological changes. Difficult cases occur in the elderly, immunocompromised patients and children.

Influenza A/B flu symptoms can be manifested in different degrees:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Sore throat
  • discharge from the nose
  • headache
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea (more common in children with flu, but can occur in people of any age with Covid-19).
  • Change or loss of taste or smell, although this is more common with Covid-19;
  • nasal congestion;
  • Myalgia (muscle pain or body aches).

Antigen testing is recommended within 7 days of symptoms.

Possible interpretation of the results

Positive Result :

Indicates the presence of influenza (flu) A/B viral antigens. Correlation of clinical symptoms and other diagnostic parameters is necessary to determine the infection status. A positive result does not rule out other bacterial or viral infections.

Negative Result :

  • A negative result is considered in the context of the presence of symptoms and history of influenza A/B.

Additional information

Influenza is a rapidly contagious viral infection of the respiratory tract that can be transmitted by respiratory secretions, sneezing or coughing. Influenza types A and B are the most common forms, which usually cause seasonal epidemics.
