The Plasma Atherogenic Index (AIP) is a strong marker for predicting the risk of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.

AIP is related to the particle size of pre- and anti-atherogenic lipoproteins. It is calculated according to the following formula - log (TG / HDL-C).
