Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Tests are used to diagnose, monitor, and prevent sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Sexually transmitted infections (STDs), which precede diseases, are transmitted from one person to another during sexual contact, or asexually - e.g. From mothers to infants during pregnancy or childbirth. Infections are mainly caused by bacteria, parasites and viruses. STDs are not always symptomatic, however they can lead to serious health problems, hence prevention, timely testing and diagnostics. Blood, urine or smears are the test materials needed for the tests. Sexually transmitted diseases include gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, HPV, genital herpes, HIV and others.
