Group B streptococci are part of the normal microflora and inhabit: the female genital tract, the upper respiratory tract, and the lower part of the digestive system.
A newborn baby is euthanized during childbirth or during the last period of pregnancy:

- In case of premature rupture of the membranes (18 hours or more before delivery)
- During fever during childbirth
- In premature birth (up to 37 weeks)
